Every year I look forward to seeing what the color masters over at Sherwin Williams are going to deem the coming years color of the year. This year, it is a very bold choice! The Sherwin Williams 2018 Color of the Year is Oceanside (SW 6496). It is a bright, deep blue color, reminiscent of a mixture of robin’s egg blue and turquoise. It would be a nice addition to an office to keep things bright and exciting, or for a living room to add some pizzazz and depth.
Oceanside pairs nicely with other bright colors like yellow, pink, red, and green. I envision a large wall painted in Oceanside, with an expansive white canvas splattered in an abstract way with colors like orange, yellow, red, green, black, and white. It is also stunning to use a simple, clean palette of just Oceanside, black, and white. Oceanside is a color that is very workable, and can be used to go in a variety of directions, whether it be contemporary, modern, Mid-Century Modern, traditional, or Art Deco.
