Every year I look forward to seeing what the color masters over at Sherwin Williams are going to deem the coming years color of the year. This year, it is a very bold choice! The Sherwin Williams 2018 Color of the Year is Oceanside (SW 6496). It is a bright, deep blue color, reminiscent of a mixture of robin’s egg blue and turquoise. It would be a nice addition to an office to keep things bright and exciting, or for a living room to add some pizzazz and depth.
The Wassily Chair is one of the most comfortable chairs I have ever sat in. The belted leather cushions in all the right places, and allows you to sink into the chair, but also be supported. My first experience with the Wassily Chair occurred at a lake house that my (very large, but not by Utah standards) family rented for an epic weekend to celebrate my Grandma’s birthday. The home was built by a famous Chicago architect, and in true architect fashion, he had all the classic chairs you can imagine, including a cowhide Le Corbusier LC4 Chaise Lounge.
These trend-setting faucets will make you want to over-wash your hands, except for the fishbowl one, where the water drains out of the fishbowl as you wash, making you think about water conservancy as the fish’s water is draining rapidly. I guarantee that all the other faucets will make you want to turn on the water and just watch, they are so cool! In the world of faucets, there are so many to choose from. There are LED-lit faucets, 3D-printed metal and glass faucets, faucets that create a vortex of water, faucets that ration your water use, or at least make you realize and ponder your consumption. Regardless of which one you select, it’s bound to be a conversation starter, and just plain fun to use.
The global real estate firm Douglas Elliman reached out to me with a request. They have a fabulous office in South Florida, and wanted to show how the rest of the world brings a bit of Florida into their homes. When they asked for my design expertise, I was excited to assist them in such a fun project.
There are so many amazing things out there, and I am fortunate to have an “in” on a lot of the incredible ones. In this new series, I am excited to share the unique things that I am privy to. I’m always open to suggestions too, so if you have an “in” on a special something that deserves some attention, feel free to send it my way.
