Berkshire Hathaway Utah Properties | Exciting Change

Moving to a new real estate brokerage during the holiday season was a gutsy move, but I’m really excited to tell you all about my recent change to Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Utah Properties. I have many great friends and colleagues who have worked for Berkshire Hathaway (previously Prudential) for decades, and always sung its praises, but I didn’t realize the full extent of what it was actually like there until I took a tour of the office and met everyone. I was impressed, and absolutely blown away! Continue Reading

Sun Tunnels | Land Art

Sun Tunnels is a magical place in the remote Great Basin Desert, outside of the ghost town of Lucin, Utah. Created by Nancy Holt in 1976, this land art installation was quite a feat. The concrete tunnels are nine feet high, eighteen feet long, and weigh twenty-two tons! Nancy collaborated with engineers, pipe manufacturers, drillers, truck drivers, and astronomers on this complex, riveting project. Arranged in an x-shaped configuration, the tunnels align perfectly with sunrises and sunsets. Continue Reading

Global Real Estate Conference In Las Vegas

I was fortunate to mix and mingle with some of the most talented and successful real estate brokers from around the globe at the 2016 Global Networking Event in Las Vegas. It was a great opportunity to dive even deeper into the competitive advantages and marketing opportunities that exist in real estate. It’s awesome to work for an international company that treasures the people we help, and the properties we represent. Whether here in the state of Utah, or halfway across the globe, we can help! NASA Rocket Motor Test | Promontory, Utah

I had the opportunity to witness NASA’s motor test of Orbital ATK’s SLS Booster, that will one day journey to Mars. It was the experience of a lifetime! The test was done in the middle of nowhere, in Promontory, Utah. The countdown leading to the motor firing was exciting, and I’ve never experienced anything like the feeling of the intense heat from the rocket fuel. The plume of smoke that developed was pretty monumental, and stories high. Every so often NASA puts on a spectacular show like this. I will do my best to let you know when the next one will be! 2016 Design Trends | Salt Lake Parade of Homes

The 2016 Salt Lake Parade of Homes started today, and it is by far my favorite year ever! For the past 5 years I have judged the Salt Lake Parade of Homes, so I was lucky to get a sneak-peek earlier this week. Let’s get to it: glass hardware has made a comeback in a modern way in door knobs and drawer pulls. I also viewed a lot of beautiful glass tile backsplashes, in everything from clear, to colored, and frosted designs. Gray is still in use in a big way. I noticed gray cabinets, counter-tops, tiles, furniture, art, accessories, and flooring. White is also trending, from stark white walls, to wainscoting, doors, cabinetry, and counter-tops.

Florida Room Design Challenge

The global real estate firm Douglas Elliman reached out to me with a request. They have a fabulous office in South Florida, and wanted to show how the rest of the world brings a bit of Florida into their homes. When they asked for my design expertise, I was excited to assist them in such a fun project. Continue Reading
